I
contribute to teaching GIS applications in water studies within the framework
of SPACE-WATER, an interdisciplinary study of GIS applications for Spatial
Prediction and Analysis in Complex Environments (SPACE). The course is designed
for Master’s students and those following the geomatics certificate program at
the University of Geneva’s Institute for Environmental Sciences. It is a week
long course during both the Fall and Spring semesters. In this course, I share
some of my experience of my PhD work with the students. I use an open source
hydrological modeling software called the Soil and Water Assessment Tool
(SWAT). It is widely used hydrological models developed at the University of
Texas along with the USDA. Details of this model can be obtained from their
website [SWAT MODEL].
The
objective of this course is to have better understanding of the simulation
process of various hydrological components and the implication for water
management studies. I try to explain various hydrological processes like
streamflow, water quality, evapotranspiration, and the water balance of various
watersheds. It’s a step by step procedure of developing
model-calibration-validation and scenario implementation. Finally, a
presentation of the results is done through geospatial maps. There are a total
of eight session to complete the course work listed below.
Here
comes the list of sessions I am offering during 5th and 6th July 2012 :

Congratulations;
ReplyDeleteThanks for your effort to teach about this important theme, so i have a question: The links of steps 2 to 7 and 10 are broken, you have other link to access and see this material?
Best regards.
Celso Catelani.
